Come taste the OG Syrah! The Serine grape is the ancestral clonal predecessor of Syrah from the pre-phylloxera era. This is what was commonly planted and grown in northern Rhône a hundred years ago. Grown organically on loamy soils, as well as red clay with quartz and granite pebbles. The grapes are hand-picked, spontaneously fermented as whole bunches using indigenous yeasts to induce an intercellular fermentation (aka carbonic maceration) and aged 9 months in stainless steel tanks. Expressive, fruity and fresh nose: aromas of blackcurrant bud, wild strawberry, fennel scented, black tea… . Elegant palate showing good balance between sense of place and fruit, layered by aromas of vetiver grass, liquorice stick and thyme leading to a long and lingering finish.

The Domaine de Berguerolles is a family run property located in St. Ambroix, in northern Languedoc aera in the Cévennes National Park.

Robert Saint Etienne acquired the Clos de Berguerolles in 1967, starting from nothing, he had been able to rebuild this magnificent vineyard in order to produce quality wines and start bottled his production from 1974.
Today this beautiful family winery, thanks to its third generation, continues to exist, prosper and flourish.

Tradition and expression of the terroir are the main words of this vineyard located on the hillside along the river Cèze, inside a meander that provides a microclimate to the vines, protecting them from the climatic hazards of the Cévennes mountains.
The Cévennes mountains are located in between the Mediterranean Sea and the Massif Central and our denomination IGP (Indication Géografique Protégée) Cévennes is surrounded by the vineyards of the Rhone valley in the northeast and the Languedoc in the southwest. The denomination has a magnificent terroir, with his hills located near the Cévennes reliefs that provide a very large range of temperature with cool nights even in summer. During the ripening period this allows the grapes to develop their polyphenols, source of aromas.

VINEYARD MANAGEMENT
The vineyard of about thirty hectares is located on the slopes that border the river Cèze, inside a meander that provides a microclimate to the vines, protecting them from the climatic hazards of the Cévennes.
The vines are lined with centenary old walls, that are delimiting the different soils.
These contribute to the preservation of the natural biodiversity of vines as well as the woods bordering the vineyard.
In addition to this, a very large range of grape varieties (about 17) allows to maintain a varietal diversity, in order to be able to drive our vineyard in a sustainable agriculture and partly biodynamic.
Preserving the microbial life of soils is one of our priorities as well as the protection of the wildlife.
The average yield of our vines is 60 hL/ha (with a gradient of 10 hL/ha to 90 hL/ha).
